Matt Booty, corporate vice president of Microsoft Gaming responsible for Xbox Games Studios, anticipates that next year they will release more titles in addition to those presented today.

In a round table with Microsoft Gaming executives which many gaming associates were able to attend after the Xbox Games Showcase, Matt Booty, CVP of the company in charge of Xbox Games Studios, has announced that the firm’s first party studios will launch more titles in 2024 that have not been announced at this Sunday’s event, where it has been confirmed that Towerborne, Hellblade 2, Avowed and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will arrive next year.

“We had a few gaps last year, but I think we’ve turned around in 2023. We’re feeling great after we’ve released Hi-Fi Rus, we’ve released Minecraft Legends (which is doing well), and we’ve got Age of Empires on consoles on the way. And then as we’ve seen today we have in the fall Forza Motorsport and Starfield,” the 56-year-old Vice President said.

“Then we get to 2024 in good shape. We’ve got Towerborne, Hellblade 2, Avowed, Flight Simulator 2024, and other things we might have that we haven’t talked about yet …” the Microsoft Gaming executive vice president hinted.

Plan to release at least four exclusive games a year is still underway

Booty also talked about how the games that the studios acquired in recent years began to develop after their purchase began to materialize. “One of the things that I think is important to highlight is that we were here a year ago, we visited inXile and we played Clockwork Revolution, a year ago, running on the console.”

“It’s fascinating to see them show what they’ve been working on, for inXile, for Compulsion, for Obsidian. These are the first games that they’ve developed from scratch under the Xbox label, they’re games that were started after the acquisition [of those studios], and it’s great to see them come out,” he adds.

“That’s all part of our goal to have at least four [Xbox Game Studios] games a year, which is something we’ve talked about a lot,” says the executive. “Also, all those games are complemented by other titles that already have communities, services, games like Minecraft, Elder Scrolls, Flight Simulator, Sea of Thieves”.

“Titles that continue to build community. In the last five years, we have published ten games that each have over ten million players to date.” According to the head of Xbox Games Studios, adding the Xbox, Bethesda and ZeniMax titles, Microsoft Games have a total of more than 150 million monthly players.
