Valorant PS5 Beta Launch Date, Schedule, Features, Expected Guidelines & More

1 years ago By AI Smith

Riot Games, the developer of Valorant, seems to be planning a PS5 beta test for the game in the near future. Although Valorant has not been officially announced for consoles, there have been hints and speculations about it for a while now.

Expectations with Valorant on PS5 Beta Launch?

A recent job advertisement from Riot Games has sparked excitement among fans. The ad is looking for candidates to fill the role of Associate Console Playtest Analyst, indicating that Valorant may be in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X and ready for beta testing.

The job ad states, “As an Associate Console Playtest Analyst on the Game Analysis Team, you will focus on validation testing of upcoming gameplay experiences for Valorant.” It also requires candidates to have professional-level experience in playing console first-person shooters.

Regarding the release date for Valorant on consoles, considering that Riot is still hiring playtesters, it is unlikely to be released in 2023. The earliest fans can expect Valorant on PS5, if it is officially announced, is fall 2024. However, fans are hopeful for a surprise release before that.

Valorant is currently one of the most popular hero shooters, with millions of players engaging in battles every day.

Is Valorant available on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch?

As of now, Riot Games’ Valorant is not available on PS4, PS5, or Nintendo Switch. The game can only be played on PC, provided that the system meets the minimum requirements. Players can also access Valorant through the Xbox Game Pass App.

The good news is that this may change in the future. In an interview with Gamespot in 2020, Riot’s Anna Donlon mentioned that they are “prototyping” a console version of the game. However, they want to ensure that the console version matches the gameplay experience of the PC version without compromising its essence.

“We are definitely prototyping that right now,” Donlon said. “But there’s a way to play this game and there’s a way to experience this game that we’re not entirely sure translates completely to console play.”

She added, “If we feel like we can deliver this experience on those platforms, we absolutely will. But we really want Valorant to stand for a certain type of gameplay and a certain type of experience.”

Considering the success of games like Overwatch 2, which are enjoyed across multiple platforms, expanding Valorant to consoles would be a logical move.

What about Valorant Mobile?

Although there is no official confirmation, rumors and leaks suggest that a mobile version of Valorant may be released this year. However, it’s important to take these rumors with a grain of salt.

We are witnessing more free-to-play games, such as Warzone, making their way into the mobile market. Therefore, a mobile version of Valorant could be a good move for Riot. We will provide updates if any concrete information emerges.

Valorant is set to expand its reach to other platforms, including consoles (Xbox and PlayStation), and possibly even mobile phones. The popular FPS game may arrive on consoles sooner than expected and eventually make its way to mobile devices. Riot Games has opened new job positions, indicating their intentions to bring Valorant to consoles and mobile platforms.

Riot Games is hiring Console Engineers for Valorant

Riot Games is currently seeking staff software engineers for Valorant’s “Console UI” and “console tech.” These engineers will be responsible for delivering new features and content to the tactical shooter on multiple platforms, including consoles and mobile. The consoles targeted for Valorant’s release are likely to be Xbox and PlayStation. Additionally, the job listing for the Console UI engineer includes a mention of mobile platforms as well. However, the console release of Valorant seems to be more imminent compared to the mobile version.

To qualify for these positions, Riot is looking for candidates with experience in console platform integration. They should have shipped at least one console game, preferably using Unreal Engine. Experience with shipping multigenerational console titles is also desirable, among other requirements.

Furthermore, Riot Games is also hiring a Manager for Software Engineering in Valorant’s Foundations Console department. This manager will lead a team of Staff Software Engineers working on Valorant’s console tech.

Playtesters Needed for Valorant’s Console Version

In addition to the engineering positions, Riot is recruiting an Associate Console Playtest Analyst for the Game Analysis team. This playtester will focus on validating upcoming gameplay experiences for Valorant. They will work closely with developers to participate in, plan, and evaluate playtests. This indicates that the development phase for the console version of Valorant is already underway.

Although Riot Games has yet to officially announce the console versions of Valorant, these job listings strongly suggest that the company is actively working on bringing the game to consoles.

In conclusion, Valorant fans can look forward to the possibility of a PS5 beta test in the near future, indicating that a console release is on the horizon. While Valorant is currently not available on PS4, PS5, or Nintendo Switch, Riot Games is exploring the potential of expanding the game to consoles and even mobile platforms. The hiring of console engineers and playtesters further supports these plans. Stay tuned for more updates on Valorant’s console and mobile versions.
