Pokémon: Top 13 Strongest Games Of This Saga, Name, Theme And More

1 years ago By AI Smith

When you think of Pokémon, the usual thing is that the RPG of the main saga, the animated series, the card game or the tons of existing merchandising come to mind. But since its creation in 1996, more than 120 video games have been published, some unpublished in Europe, and a good handful of them with outlandish or curious ideas. In this list there will be certain titles that you will know or that, at least, will sound familiar to you, but we hope that you will discover something new as it has happened to us.

Pokémon Sleep

This game was released for free for Android and iOS mobiles on July 18, 2023. As the name suggests, it is one of those applications that record the user’s sleep (and its sounds, including farts ) to change their habits so that they sleep better. To do this, gamify the rest: by leaving the device near the pillow, we help Professor Neroli in his research on how Pokémon sleep. Depending on our sleeping position, different creatures will appear when waking up or in different positions around a peaceful Snorlax.

Pokemon Smile

It is another free wellness app that aims to motivate children to brush their teeth and do it correctly. Using the mobile device’s camera, they have to eliminate the bacteria that appear in their mouth, and when they succeed, they will be able to rescue a Pokémon from more than 100 different species, all recreated with an adorable art style. Little by little they will complete the Pokédex and unlock accessories that appear on their heads while they brush.

Learn with Pokémon: Adventure between the keys

It is a video game for the Nintendo DS intended to teach typing. With a mechanic similar to that of Typing of the Dead, players use the included Bluetooth keyboard (compatible with other devices, which made the title quite popular) to type the name of the more than 400 Pokémon that appear on the routes and cities, and thus catch them. Special mention to the name in Spain of the characters in the game: Ana Escribano and Vicente Clado.

Pokemon: Magikarp Jump

A meme turned into a video game. It one quite addictive and virtualizable, in addition. Pokémon: Magikarp Jump is a free title for iOS and Android that proposes to make the most useless pocket monster in history (until it evolves, of course) reach the top. So, as the name suggests, what you need to do is jump, but how far your manoeuvre goes is influenced by your weight and other stats. Therefore, you have to train it (by hitting punching bags) and accept the help of other Pokémon. But along the way, there will be incidents that will force the redfish to retire and hand over its commendable mission to the next generation of Magikarp., which translates into a loop of getting more and better species of this Pokémon, and even new variants that change its colour and design.

Detective Pikachu

Yes, Detective Pikachu is not exactly unknown, especially after the success of the Rob Letterman movie. But it may be the most extravagant game on the entire list. After all, it’s a point-and-click adventure game for Nintendo 3DS (its sequel comes out October 6 for Switch) starring detective Pikachu who speaks hoarsely and doesn’t stop drinking coffee. Despite the joke, in its plot, in which the yellow mouse helps young Tom to look for his father who disappeared through the streets of Tyme City, there is much more than jokes.

Pokémon PokéROM Gotta Learn ’em All!!

When the Pokémon fever of the early 2000s broke out, all kinds of products of dubious quality were released to take advantage of the pull of pocket monsters. Many did not leave the United States or Japan. Among the most popular is Pokémon PokéROM Gotta Learn ’em All!, an educational video game for the computer in which the players had to answer questions ranging from mathematics to language, passing through science or the Pokémon themselves, to obtain images of Pokémon taken from the animated series as a reward. Mattel (yes, the one with Barbie and Hot Wheels) and The Learning Company released dozens of these records.

Pokemon 2000

This game was a browser game that very few played. Because Nintendo ordered its withdrawal. The Japanese company hired Cyberworld to create a simple title to promote Pokémon 2: The Power of One. The problem that the head of the saga encountered, months after the launch of Pokémon Snap, is that it was not easy. The game allowed you to move in a 2.5D environment (think of Wolfenstein 3D or the first DOOM ) to travel to three islands with a Pokémon team to get some spheres guarded by Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. along the way, they getPoké Ball that either level up a Pokémon or cause it to be drawn by a member of Team Rocket. In addition, there is trivia and other mechanics. In less than a month, the title disappeared, although there are still traces of it on the web.

Pokemon Battrio

Before Skylanders and Disney Infinity, The Pokémon Company released Pokémon Battrio in Japanese arcades. Players can get hold of discs similar to mugs that represent Pokémon. The game is similar to Pokémon Stadium, but there are three creatures on the battlefield at the same time, taking turns against three other creatures; their position depends on where the discs have been placed in the arcade. After this machine launched in 2007, other games with similar ideas such as Pokémon Tretta, Pokémon Tretta Lab, Pokémon Ga-Olé and Pokémon Mezastar arrived in the arcades., which changed the pogs for a kind of cards.

Hey you, Pikachu!

It never made it to Europe, although it was released in the United States, Hey You, Pikachu! is a video game for the Nintendo 64 that is controlled by the Voice Recognition Unit. The microphone allows you to interact with the yellow mouse using 256 voice commands, which also serve to make it move around the environment and pick up objects. Together with the Pokémon, activities such as collecting food, fishing and buying accessories in a store can be carried out. It had a spiritual sequel, Pokémon Channel for GameCube, which did reach Spain, although it does not use the microphone, it had a more varied gameplay based on watching different television channels with Pikachu and exploring different environments.

Pokemon Conquest

One of the strongest proposals in the Pokémon saga is, for some, one of its best video games, although it did not reach Europe either (it did reach North America). Pokémon Conquest mixes pocket monsters with Nobunaga’s Ambition, strategy and role-playing games set in Japan’s Sengoku period developed by Koei Tecmo. Thus, it is an RPG with turn-based combat in grids where commanding an army of Pokémon, we fight battles throughout the Ransei region against warriors inspired by the history of feudal Japan. A bizarre combination that led to one of the best tactical role-playing titles on Nintendo DS.

Pokemon Radar

Remember the Face Grab minigame featured on Nintendo 3DS that uses handheld cameras to deliver an augmented reality shooter where the targets are photos of faces that have been taken? Well, the gameplay of RAdar Pokémon, which was available on the Nintendo eShop, is based on the same premise, although replacing the photos with the Pokémon. You have to shoot mysterious clouds scattered around our environment, using the cameras and the gyroscope of the console. The peculiarity is that the obtained objects and the trapped creatures can be transferred to Pokémon Black and White Version 2.

PokéPark: Fishing Rally DS

A Pokémon fishing game doesn’t sound too strange, because even in the main saga you can fish. The particularity of PokéPark: Fishing Rally DS is another. As the name suggests, it was a title for the Nintendo DS with a very simple double-screen minigame, with a score based on three statistics. The curious thing is that this DS Download game was available at PokéPark, the Japanese theme park dedicated to the saga that closed in 2005, at the annual Pokémon Fiesta convention and the country’s Pokémon Centers. The title was erased when the console was turned off and the best scores were sent to the minigame machines available in the Pokémon Center for all to see.
