DOTA 2 Most Expensive Bug: All You Need To Know

1 years ago By AI Smith

The most expensive bug in DOTA 2 is the Free Aghanim’s Scepter bug. This bug allowed players to purchase an Aghanim’s Scepter, sell it, and disconnect immediately and then reconnect easily. After this they would retain the Aghanim’s Scepter buff. This bug only worked for heroes that earned an additional spell after buying Aghanim’s Scepter such as Kunkka (Torrent Storm) and Zeus (Nimbus). For such an expensive item that rewards a lot of game-changing abilities, the free Aghs are directly ruining pubs.

The bug was discovered in the Spring Cleaning 2022 update and was fixed shortly post that. However, during the time it was active, it is estimated that players spent over $100,000 on the bug. This makes it the most expensive bug in DOTA 2 history.

The bug was caused by a conflict between the Aghanim’s Scepter buff and the disconnect/reconnect mechanic of the game. When a player disconnected from a game, their items were put into a temporary queue. When the player reconnected, the items were restored to their inventory.

However, if the player had purchased an Aghanim’s Scepter and then disconnected, the bug would cause the item to be removed from the queue and the buff would be retained.

Valve fixed the bug by making sure that the Aghanim’s Scepter buff was removed from the player’s inventory when they disconnected. This prevented the bug from occurring and ensured that players could not purchase the item for free.

The Free Aghanim’s Scepter bug was a major issue in DOTA 2 and it is estimated that it cost players over $100,000. Although Valve fixed the bug quickly it is still a reminder of the potential for bugs to have a significant impact on the game.

Here are some tips to avoid bugs in DOTA 2:

  • Update your game regularly. Valve releases updates to DOTA 2 regularly, and these updates often include bug fixes.
  • Be careful when using new features. When Valve introduces new features to DOTA 2, there is always the potential for bugs. Be careful when using new features until they have been tested by the community.
  • Report bugs. If you find a bug in DOTA 2, report it to Valve. This will help them to fix the bug and make the game better for everyone.

By following these tips, you can help to avoid bugs in DOTA 2 and make sure that you have a positive experience playing the game.
