Pokémon GO: An expert analyzes the game’s biggest problems

1 years ago By AI Smith

Pokémon GO is one of the most popular video game apps on mobile devices. However, that does not mean that it is without its problems.

Niantic has recently come under fire for making stealthy changes to the game, including an alleged reduction in the Shiny odds of Remote Raids. Other players were unhappy with Hidden Gems and even reported that the new purified Crystals were not working as intended.

But some complaints about Pokémon GO may be temporary. And some players believe that the main problems are others.

The expert analyzes the problems of Pokémon GO

A recent post on the Pokémon GO Reddit has become very popular. In it, a player who claimed to be a former “scientist and expert” shared his opinion about the problems of the game. The post attracted so much attention that it was removed shortly after, but we already know what it included.

He highlighted two points. The first was that the competitive system has become frustrating, especially after the removal of the Premier Classic Master Ball League. The second point was that casual players no longer found it viable to push themselves to get Pokémon.

The player pointed out that the changes made to Pokémon GO Remote Raids only made the situation worse, restricting the ability for many to participate in the game. This was what made him leave the game, but not before thinking about how it could be fixed.

What occurred to him was that Pokémon GO needed more social options and improvements to its features. In this way, players would have a better experience when leaving home, and not just a slim chance of getting a different Pokémon.

He also added that Niantic “implicitly” tolerates cheaters, which makes regular players feel bad about the time, money and effort they have invested.

Other problems to solve

The self-proclaimed Pokémon GO expert and analyst added some critical points to fix.

In his words, the game feels like a series of daily “homework” since it pretty much forces you to play at set times and complete specific tasks. The freedom of the main series has been largely lost, as the player cannot make their agenda.

And due to the showers of events, the most basic functions like catching wild Pokémon or hatching Eggs have lost their value. Other core features like Raids have no long-term changes, such as improvements to the combat system. It also doesn’t fix the bugs from 2017, including the possibility of losing passes when people leave.

The famous spoofing and multiple accounts have not been prosecuted as they should either. This added to the difficulty of organizing games even with Campfire, has made daily participation in Pokémon GO a challenge for many.

The player claims to be a former scientist from Silph Road, a community that lost support from Niantic and closed its doors on May 12. Other players shared their own experiences and frustrations in the Reddit thread before he was removed by the Pokémon GO moderators.
