5 Best PC Games In October 2023

1 years ago By AI Smith

October is here, and as this is a month known for thrills and chills, you’ll need to get ready for a surprisingly large number of eagerly awaited releases. October is unquestionably the largest month of the year, with plenty of high-profile releases to choose from, including a Spider-Man sequel, the highly anticipated return of Alan Wake, and the return of the world’s most acrobatic plumber. In addition to the unfortunate author of Remedy Entertainment and Sony’s webhead, there’s Cities: Skylines II, a Nintendo exclusive, the return of Forza Motorsport as it transitions into live-service gear, and a one-two punch of unique titles.

Fans of Dark Souls and Elden Ring should also keep an eye on Lords of the Fallen, in addition to those titles. Lords of the Fallen, an intense new action-RPG developed by Hexworks, hasn’t held back when claiming that its expansive, interconnected world was inspired by the works of From Software. The game is set in a realm that is more than five times larger than the original.

With its setting in ancient Baghdad, the first new Assassin’s Creed game in a number of years is returning to the franchise’s core elements. When it comes to open-world gameplay, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is more conventional and, comparatively speaking, has a narrower scope—at least for the IP. You can still spend a lot of time on this quest, which follows the crafty Basim of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as he transforms from neighborhood troublemaker to skilled assassin, according to Ubisoft, even with that more relaxed approach.

Due to the release of two first-party Nintendo titles this month, Switch owners also have a lot to look forward to. Detective Pikachu Returns is afoot in the video game world, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder appears to be a creative take on the series with its novel gameplay elements, seamless platforming, and Elephant Mario’s pachyderm prowess.

Mario’s debut day will coincide with the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a PS5 exclusive. A week later, you’ll need to make time for Alan Wake’s comeback. The combo of web-slinging and survival horror is powerful, and October offers a ton of alternatives with the release of a remastered Sega Genesis game, a first-person parkour hack-and-slasher, and city management.

5 Best PC Games In October 2023

Here are the top 5 games you can enjoy on your PC in October 2023:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

  • Release date: October 5, 2023
  • Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC

Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which takes place in 9th-century Baghdad, looks to be a lot tighter adventure than its recent predecessors and a return to the series’ origins, with a greater emphasis on parkour, stealth, and assassinations amid the bustling city of the Abbasid Caliphate.

As Basim, who we first encountered in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you will take on the role. Prior to being enlisted in the Hidden Ones, he is still a street thief in Mirage. Compared to Valhalla, Basim’s coming-of-age tale will be much shorter and center around a single, densely populated metropolis.

Forza Motorsport

  • Release date: October 10, 2023
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S and PC

The more accurate racing sibling of Forza Horizon is almost here. Motorsport is centered on closed-circuit races on authorized and made-up circuits, as well as realistic handling and physics, in contrast to Horizon, which is all about racing in open-world environments.

For more information on what’s new and enhanced in the next game, check out our hands-on preview of Forza Motorsport.

The most recent game in Xbox’s response to PlayStation’s Gran Turismo series is already available for pre-order through the Microsoft shop, as well as digital codes for Forza Motorsport that can be obtained for the console from Amazon, Steam, and the Epic Games shop for PCs.

Total War: Pharaoh

  • Release date: October 11, 2023
  • Platform: PC

The most recent game in the Total War historical strategy series from Creative Assembly is Pharaoh. Similar to the previous versions, it blends real-time tactics and unit control with turn-based strategy and resource management in military engagements. Pharaoh promises to be a more accurate and realistic portrayal of the late Bronze Age collapse in Ancient Egypt than other Total War games, which infuse magical elements or offer different interpretations of historical events.

Through Steam and the Epic Games Store, you can now preorder Total War: Pharaoh.

Lords of the Fallen

  • Release date: October 13, 2023
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

Lords of the Fallen, a new soulslike that features an amazing magic system in addition to melee gameplay, is a reboot of the 2014 game of the same name. Check out our Lords of the Fallen preview to find out more about the game and how it improves upon its predecessor.

Pre-orders are currently being accepted and come with bonus bronze, silver, and gold armour tincts in addition to items that increase mana, XP, and health. With the latter, you may customize the color of any armor piece in-game, giving you the ability to take on the game’s tough bosses in flair.

Alan Wake II

  • Release date: October 27, 2023
  • Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

This month marks the release of Alan Wake II, which was first announced two years after the first Alan Wake game and more than ten years after that. Compared to the action adventure game with horror components in the original, the new game is more of a survival horror game.

FBI agent Saga Anderson, who is looking into a string of killings that have been occurring since Alan Wake vanished, is a new playable character in Alan Wake II. By taking on the roles of Wake and Anderson, players will be able to experience two intertwined stories.
