Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India (ESFI) and Vice-President of Asian Esports Federation (AESF) has been newly elected to the International Esports Federation (IESF) Membership Committee. Suji will serve on the board for a three-year period. This is also the first time an Indian is a part of the IESF membership committee.

What is IESF?

The IESF is a global esports organization that seeks to promote Esports as a true sport that breaks down language, cultural, and race barriers. Being added to the IESF Membership Committee is a rigid process where each application is review carefully. This is done to ensure the top standards of the board as it continues to advance its global Esports mission.

The recent Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) of IESF was held on 28th August in Iasi, Romania. It was here that Lokesh Suji was elected as the newest member of the committee. According to the voting poll, out of the 70 voting and present members, 42 voted for his selection.

Now that he’s been inducted into the fold, Suji will be able to use his vast experience in esports to ensure a smooth execution of the process. He will now be able to contribute in promoting and building a bright future for esports with IESF.

“We are thrilled to introduce Lokesh Suji as the newest addition to the IESF Membership Committee,” said Vlad Marinescu, President of the IESF, as he expressed his delight on Suji’s election. “Drawing from our extensive collaboration over the past few years, I possess unwavering confidence in his passion, capabilities, and commitment to advancing the global Esports community.” He further added.

Regarding his selection Lokesh Suji said, “It is an honour to be elected to the Membership Committee of the IESF and be part of an organization that has been driving the global esports movement forward for so long.” He continued saying, “This election is a testament to the dedication of ESFI and the growth of the Indian Esports community. I would like to thank all the members of the IESF for their continuous support and look forward to working with the committee to contribute to the growth and integrity of esports on a global scale.”

Who is Lokesh Suji?

Lokesh Suji is the Director of Esports Federation of India (ESFI) and Vice-President of Asian Esports Federation (AESF). Due to his tireless work in his role as Director of ESFI, the organization has been able to successfully host national qualifiers to discover skilled athletes to represent India at international esports events. The World Esports Championships and Global Esports Games are some of these international events.

ESFI has been responsible for sending top Indian esports talent to major sporting events like the Asian Games 2018 and the Commonwealth Esports Championships in 2022. Here, the Indian contingent managed to claim bronze medals in Hearthstone and DOTA 2, respectively.

The upcoming Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou is where esports will be debuting as an official medal sport and ESFI is already preparing to send a 15-member contingent to compete in it.

With Lokesh Suji’s election into IESF and India already on its way to global esports domination, the future is bright for esports in the country. There is no doubt that Suji’s commitment to have esports be recognized as a legitimate sport in the country is seeing positive results.
