5 Records That Call Of Duty Created In October 2023

1 years ago By AI Smith

The Call of Duty franchise has been around for quite a while now and judging by the many records it has broken thus far, is easy to see why. The first Call of Duty installment was released on 29th October 2003. This first release success was what set the tone for the next installments that would come in the years to follow. In 2003 alone, Call of Duty was noted for its excellent gameplay and even won ‘Game of the Year’ awards from several video game reviewers. Fast-forward to 2023 and the franchise is still going strong. Now with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), the franchise is out to set even more amazing records.

When Activision announced that the next installment of Call of Duty was coming on 10th November 2023, fans went ballistic. They were ready and excited to welcome the next installment in the franchise. Just the previous year, when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released it shattered previous sales records, earning just over $800 million worldwide within just three days of its release. This was an incredible feat and one that surpassed previous titles from the past two years. Even as fans are waiting for the launch of MW3 in November 2023, the franchise continues to set records as well.

Let’s take a look at all the records the Call of Duty franchise has created in the past year of 2023:

5 Records Call of Duty Created

  1. 67 Million Monthly Average Active Players on COD: Mobile

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release coming soon, players made sure not to miss any action on the game. Call of Duty: Mobile is another IP in the franchise that has gained a lot of popularity since its release in 2019. It is estimated that there are over 210 million active players that play the game. For the month of October 2023, the statistic website activeplayer.io recorded that the game had one of its highest average active players of around 67.8 million. This number was 9.60% higher than the previous month which was 61.9 million. This means it was about a monthly gain of 5.9 million players.

  • Garnered 90 Million Active Players in July 2023

Back in July, the entire franchise saw a whopping 90 million total active players. This is a huge feat achieved by the game. A large portion of that number was from the Call of Duty: Mobile players as its one of the most popular IPs in the franchise. This number is only expected to increase when Modern Warfare 3 drops on November 2023. By the end of the year, it is possible that there could be more than 100 million total active players for the Call of Duty franchise. If the game hits this number, it will surely be an incredible feat and definitely one that will go into the history books.

  • Fastest Game in the Franchise to Cross $1 Billion Revenue Mark

While this record was not set in 2023, it is still something that needs to be mentioned. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was released in November 2022, it broke a major franchise record. The game reached its $1 Billion revenue mark in just a matter of 10 days. This was 5 days more than Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 which hit the mark in 15 days. However, now it’s expected that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 which will be out on 10th November, could soon smash this record as well. Given that the craze for the Call of Duty games has not died down, this is a pretty likely scenario.

  • Call of Duty 4 – Most Critically Acclaimed Videogame

Another notable achievement by one of the Call of Duty games is that the Xbox 360 version of Call of Duty 4 was slated to be one of the most critically acclaimed Call of Duty games ever. The game earned a score of 94.16% which is the highest score so far. This is only a testament to how good the Call of Duty franchise is. Ratings for Call of Duty continue to remain at the top in many video game review sites.

  • Best-Selling Game in the Franchise

Call of Duty: Black Ops was another record-setter. It was released on 10th November 2010 and was an immediate success. Even in 2023, Call of Duty: Black Ops still has the highest number of copies sold which was 31 million copies. The game is a sequel to World at War which was also another reason why it was a hit among players. Not only that but another reason for the game’s success was that it was the first time players were introduced to the Zombies game mode. The Black Ops storyline was one of the best in the franchise and is no wonder why fans still love it.

All the records that Call of Duty has set in its two-decade run, make it one of the top video game franchises in the world today. It also looks like Activision has no plans to slow down this success as there are already rumored to be a few projects in line for the next year as well. One is the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on 10th November 2023 which is sure to boost revenue for Activision. The game’s player base of millions of players is eagerly waiting for the next big launch.

This only means that there are going to be more records broken before the end of 2023 and we can’t wait. Even though we were not able to list out many of the game’s other record-breakers, be assured that there are plenty. We’ll continue to update you on all the amazing records that will be broken by Call of Duty and other popular video game franchises. So make sure to stay tuned and keep watching this space for more amazing content!
