5 GameCube That Should Be Added On Nintendo Switch In 2023

1 years ago By AI Smith

The GameCube holds a very special place in gamers’ hearts. Because? Well, certainly Nintendo 64 and GameBoy came first and, even though we also have a special affection for them, the real reason for our love for GameCube is its catalogue and that, being a little older (a kid from inside), we valued to an even greater extent the hardware and, why not say it? With access to a modest weekly allowance for my expenses, we were able to save up and buy the occasional game, whereas with the Nintendo 64 and GameBoy, still receiving nothing, our catalogue was only nourished by birthday and Christmas gifts.

Knowing this, no one will be surprised that my joy in recent years is genuine, because of the recent return of Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, we must add the revival of other titles such as Super Mario Sunshine (thanks to Super Mario 3D All-Stars).

Through Resident Evil 4, without forgetting Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, the Metroid Prime remastered or Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Baten Kaitos Origins with Baten Kaitos Ⅰ & Ⅱ HD Remaster. Today, we would like to talk to you about those magnificent video games that for the moment remain exclusively trapped in Nintendo’s purple cube and that, for one reason or another, deserve a second chance to be enjoyed on Nintendo Switch. Shall we start?

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

First, the most obvious. Why should Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance be remastered? Well, obviously because it’s Fire Emblem and that’s something that everyone tends to like, also, Fire Emblem Engage’s commitment to bringing back various characters from the series, has fed the desire for discovery that many have with main titles that have not yet been able to play by X or Y.

Likewise, its return in the form of a remake or remaster would help to put an end to the scourge of speculation, since Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance takes the cake as the most expensive game of GameCube at the moment, costing at the time of writing this €235 in CEX. Who wants to shell out two hundred or so euros to a speculator for the game? We understand that no one is in their right mind. There are therefore plenty of reasons to request the return of this title to the Nintendo hybrid.

F-Zero GX

Is it even necessary to find an excuse to ask for the return of F-Zero? Even if it is in the form of a remake or remaster of F-Zero GX, the last game by Captain Falcon and company that we saw on a Nintendo home console (followed by F-Zero: GP Legend and F-Zero Climax on GameBoy Advance).

Do you know how long it has been since the release of F-Zero GX? Nothing more and nothing less than a whopping 20 years, which is said soon… This title can be bought on the Spanish second-hand market for around €70 at CEX and, at Wallapop and others, whatever the speculator wants to charge you. Nintendo, what’s it hard for you to bring back the most beloved high-speed racing cars of all time? There is a clear market niche that, given the total absence of F-Zero and with WipeOut still on the air, independent studios are having to fill with games like FAST RMX or Redout.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

Yes, it’s true, gamers who are horror fans are not badly stocked at the moment, although usually a lot of the latest games come from well-established independent companies such as Red Barrels, Frictional Games, Bloober Team or Supermassive Games, but how many titles? horror is there that has been distributed directly by Nintendo itself? Surely you have the fingers of one hand left over if you start counting them. Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, the game developed by Canadian Silicon Knights, held that high honour, as it’s certainly a genre The Big N doesn’t seem to have a real interest in. Who wouldn’t want to relive (or live for the first time) the chance to enjoy this cult psychological horror title? Which by the way, is currently around €68 on CEX.

Pokemon Colosseum/Pokémon XD: Dark Tempest

You will allow me to “cheat” a bit at this point because although initially, we thought of leaving Pokemon Colosseum alone, we think that Pokémon XD: Dark Tempest also deserved to be here. At a time when it seems that The Pokémon Company and Game Freak are going to adopt the “open” world as a formula that began with the experiment of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, a server would like to return to enjoying more linear titles and, while Pokémon Stadium or Pokemon Battle Revolution has a different approach focused on pure combat, Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD: Dark Tempest exuded charisma and personality, being games focused on their story that also did not forget their modes focused on combat and again.

Knowing that portable Pokémon games are regularly remastered/remade every few years, what’s to stop them from doing the same and breathing new life into them on Nintendo Switch? His return could serve as an excuse to develop a parallel series to the main one that, instead of continuing with the open world, opted to be more linear with bases similar to those of these games. These can be purchased at CEX for €40 in the case of Pokemon Colosseum and €135 for Pokémon XD: Dark Tempest.

Wario World

Wario World is my most personal bet because we were considering other video games for this last place, problems that the GameCube catalogue is so exceptional… Perhaps at this point, some of you don’t even remember, but there was a time when Wario starred in games platforming, just like Mario, and defeating enemies while searching for great riches and treasures… now, well… he stars in minigames about picking his nose.

Don’t get us wrong, the Wario Ware saga is great, but for Wario to return to the platforming arena with his brashness that the plumber in the red cap can’t replicate, well, that would be great news. Wario World is pure fun, the latest 3D platformer starring Wario that originally came out 20 years ago. To top it off, Wario World could be purchased for €58 on CEX, but without stock, your only option would be to unconditionally accept any speculator’s price in a buy/sell app.
